general order information

My online shop accepts credit cards (through PayPal) and checks.  Since I am a small business located in Washington, DC, orders that are billed to addresses in the District of Columbia are subject to DC sales tax.  Shipped orders are delivered, with insurance & tracking, through the U.S. Postal Service, and I use recycled shipping materials whenever possible.  Currently, I only ship within the United States.  If you have other questions about ordering, feel free to contact me!

 

shipping & handling costs

There is a $12 shipping/handling cost per item ordered, and a maximum shipping charge of $36.  This cost includes the cost of shipping as well as the packaging.  If a pair or group of pieces is sold as a single set, it is considered one item.  Again, orders are shipped through the USPS. 


DC area friends:  You can remove shipping costs completely from your order by choosing the option to pick up your pots rather than have them shipped! 


And for everyone: I do understand that flate-rate shipping can be a one-size-fits-all option that doesn't actually fit all, so, in cases where the flate-rate shipping charges prove to be more than the actual costs of shipping plus a bit of packaging, I do refund unused shipping charges for Paypal orders.

 

shipping time

Pottery is shipped between three to five days of your order, and, once shipped, I will provide a tracking ID for your package so that you may estimate the arrival date.


pickups

If you live in the Washington, DC area & would prefer to pick up your order from me in DC rather than have it shipped, that option is available during checkout.  In the case, you will obviously not be charged for shipping, though you will be charged DC sales tax if your billing address is in DC.

 

refunds & exchanges

My pots are made & packed with a great deal of care.  However, if my pottery is delivered to you in damaged condition, please contact me immediately, either by email (potterindc@yahoo.com) or by phone (202 664 3765) & email me a digital photo of the damaged work, in and including the surrounding packing. Shipping will be insured for the cost of your items. Once I receive your photo(s), I will contact USPS, & I will refund you the cost of your items, sales tax (if the order was billed to an address in DC), and shipping costs in the meantime. In order to process a refund due to delivery damage, I *must* receive your photos within a week of delivery.

 

Since I am a very small business, I will only offer refunds with proof of damage that is a result of delivery & that is brought to my attention within the week of the date of delivery. It is very important to me that you be happy with any of my pottery that you order, & I really try to represent the pots clearly & accurately in my online shop. If you are not happy with an order for any reason, please call or email me immediately; we can arrange for an exchange for a piece of equal value once I understand the issue.
